Two years ago, there were no scheduled sings in December. Last year, we added one, and this year there’s another for your holiday singing enjoyment. Here are the details:

The first event is the second annual sing at Silver Lake Mill, Dayton, Va., on SundayDec. 3 at 4 p.m., with candlelit caroling on the lake dock afterwards for those who would like to join. This year it will be held on the first floor of the mill, one level above the basement where we sang last year. This area can accommodate close to 100 people and has lovely acoustics with wood floors and high ceilings.

Directions: 2328 Silver Lake Road Dayton, VA.  Visit the website here. The entrance is on the north side of the building (the side facing the lake). There are steps leading up to a loading dock where you will see the entrance door for the first floor.

The second event will be at the Mauck Meeting House in Hamburg, Va., on Saturday, Dec. 9 from 1-3 p.m. The caretakers of the meetinghouse are excited to have singers come and celebrate the season in this historic log structure–the usual sing in Hamburg is the first Sunday of August, so this is a bonus. It could be a bit dark inside, so bring a book light or flashlight with you.The old stove in the middle of the room may be employed to keep us warm.

Directions: 200 Hamburg Road, Luray, VA. From I-81, take the New Market exit (U.S. 211) and drive east, over the mountain. After crossing the Shenandoah River, turn north (left) onto Hwy 766 and go a mile or so to the small village of Hamburg, west of Luray. The old church is on the left.

Come and sing!
